DES ROCHES BLANC 2009
40-year-old vines produce a white Bordeaux of fruit purity and aromatic complexity. Fermented in stainless steel, this is a delicate, fresh effort perfect as an aperitif or with seafood. This is one of Post's great white wine values. Certainly one to buy by the case.
In 1921, François Thevenot, grandfather of the present owner, Michel Boyer, acquired this domain from the Count de la Chassaigne, a distant descendant of the famous 16th century philosopher Michel de Montaigne. Today, the Domain constitutes a unit of 90 hectares overlapping the communes of Loupiac and Sainte-Croix-du-Mont. The lime-clay soils cover a bed-rock of coarse limestone as the banks of fossilized oysters reveal. The white wines produced here are of exceptional quality and have received numerous awards and distinctions.
